East Fannin Elementary successfully collected 52 bags of shoes, totaling 1,345 pounds, during a recent shoe drive fundraiser.
The funds raised from the drive will be used to provide seating for the school’s outdoor classroom.
Shoes were re-purposed, preventing them from ending up in landfills.
Jessica and David Suri, parents of two East Fannin students, played a key role by picking up and storing the shoe donations weekly at their home.
The Suri family also worked with the organization Funds 2 Org to help load the collected shoes onto a truck for transport.
