Early voting underway in Fannin County election

Early voting for the General Primary run-off, slated for Tuesday, August 11, began July 20 and will continue through August 7.

Voters who choose to early vote can do so in the Elections Office on the third floor of the Fannin County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during that time frame.

According to Election Supervisor Mary Ann Connor, social distancing will be practiced during early voting and election day voting.

“We will be practicing social distancing, have a sanitizing table set up and will also be sanitizing the office and voting equipment throughout the day,” Connor said.

Those who voted in the general primary must vote using the same ballot style.

“If you voted in the June 9, 2020 General Primary you must vote the same ballot style you selected then, with the exception of Nonpartisan. They will be allowed to select either party’s ballot style,” Connor said. “If you did not vote in the June 9, 2020 General Primary then either ballot style can be chosen.”

Two races will appear on the Republican ballot.

Challenger Jamie Hensley will face incumbent Stan Helton in the Fannin County Board of Commissioners Chairman race, while Andrew Clyde and Matt Gurtler will attempt to succeed Doug Collins in the 9th Congressional District.

The Democratic party will also see a runoff for the 9th Congressional District seat as Devin Pandy and Brooke Siskin are both seeking their party’s nomination.

The Elections Office is accepting ballot applications and poll worker applications at this time.

Those with questions regarding the election can call the office at 706-632-7740.
