Jode Mull, then Jode Hanson, had moved to the North Georgia mountains in 2007 to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She had brought her job with her, but that unexpectedly went away with those of 199 other employees.
Then one day, Elaine Dilbeck, who was the membership director at the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce, told her the Chamber was “looking for somebody to do a little something.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
The next 17 years saw Mull become an icon of the Chamber and the entire community. She has grown with the Chamber just as the Chamber has grown with the community.
She’s been a member of the art center, community theater, Kiwanis and is a member of two hiking clubs.
She used her knowledge of the area and its people to show it off to travel writers and anyone else who asked.
Now she is stepping into retirement.
A reception in her honor saw the conference room at the Chamber filled Thursday afternoon, August 15, as one person after another dropped in to wish her well.
And while she is officially retiring, Mull said she is looking forward to the opportunity to volunteer and stay involved in the community she loves.
