The annual fireworks show on Blue Ridge Lake will still take place Saturday, July 4, starting at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The event is coordinated by the Lake Blue Ridge Civic Association and sponsored by a number of local businesses and organizations as well as private donations.
“As is customary, traffic on Old Highway 76 across Lake Blue Ridge dam will be shut down on both ends of the dam to facilitate foot traffic,” Lake Blue Ridge Civic Association President Dale Greene said. “Also the small parking lot adjacent to the dam will be closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicle traffic will be restricted beginning at 6 p.m. in order to insure maximum safety for pedestrians on the dam.”
In addition to the dam and the lake, spectators will be able to see the show from viewing areas including Lake Blue Ridge Marina and selected areas along Old Highway 76 and Highway 515.
The public is reminded that parking safely along Old Highway 76 to walk to the dam is permitted.
“However, those with limited mobility or disabilities should be mindful of the possible long walk to and from the dam and that there are no public restroom facilities,” Greene said. The event will function with all necessary permits in place, and the plan for the show meets all current guidelines regarding gatherings and social distancing.
The show will last approximately 30 minutes.
