Accountability courts host party for children

The Appalachian Judicial Circuit’s Accountability Courts (Drug Court, Veterans Court, HELP Court, Family Treatment Court) recently hosted a Christmas party for the children of their participants.  The party was held at the First Baptist Church in Ellijay Georgia.

The theme for the party was “The Polar Express” and featured Chief Compliance Officer John Arp as “The Conductor” from the Polar Express movie.

The party also included Santa Claus, played by recently retired Chief Compliance officer Larry Clemmons, who has faithfully been Santa Clause for these parties for well over a decade. The role of Ms. Claus was played by District Attorney’s Office Investigator Carol Daves. There were approximately 190 children who sat on Santa’s lap and then were provided several gifts, all wrapped by Accountability Court staff.

Special thanks to First Baptist Church Ellijay for the use of their facility, Pickens County Sheriff Donnie Craig, for the generous contribution to help purchase gifts, Treatment Coordinator Kenzie Williams for leading the planning of the party, Accountability Court staff for helping wrap gifts and serve at the party, and Family Treatment Court Coordinator Christina Mosely’s father, Ken Warren, who made the Polar Express train engine.

Chief Superior Court Judge Brenda S. Weaver presides over the Drug, HELP, and Veterans Court, and Judge Patricia King presides over the Family Treatment Court.
