McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley arrived home to a hero’s welcome Friday as a motorcade of law enforcement and public service vehicles escorted him from Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga to his home in Canton.
The route came through the twin cities of McCaysville and Copperhill, where he was greeted with well wishers on both sides of the state line.
McCaysville Mayor Terry Arp said Friday he had talked with Worley who was in good spirits and anxious to get back to work.
Arp expressed his appreciation, along with that of the city council and all city employees, for the outpouring of support that was shown by everyone; law enforcement agencies, other public service agencies, businesses and private citizens.
“Community means everyone pulling together and that’s exactly what happened after Brantley was shot,” Arp said.
