Her Hope Pregnancy Center raised a total of $60,020 at their annual Walk For Life.
“It feels really nice to know that we are supported,” Client Services Director Brittany Stites said.
She thanked Fannin residents for the love they showed for local new mothers.
The money met their fundraising goals, and will cover their operating expenses for the year.
Pregnant women and new moms visiting Her Hope this upcoming year will soon be able to benefit from an ultrasound machine, additional space for counseling, a playroom for children and a baby boutique. All these services are free.
Stites said they were grateful to more than 200 guests who attended the event June 7. This number was a record for Her Hope.
“The camaraderie and the attitude of the event always strikes me. It’s really nice to see that with everybody all focused on one goal,” said volunteer Melissa Reynolds. She attended the Walk for Life.
This year, the event focused on inviting families and children.
It included carnival games, bounce houses and other activities that made it fun for kids, Stites said.
“Every year, we try to do something different to draw more people in,” she said.
Some women who had relied on Her Hope during their crisis pregnancies also spoke at the event.
“They support what we do for others, and they’re the same clients that tell their friends about us,” Stites said.
Next year, Her Hope plans to do a Walk for Life with more vendors, she said.
In this upcoming year, they also might do more fundraisers, including a race to float rubber ducks down a river.
“Our operating cost is covered, but we do have a lot going on with the expansion [of the clinic],” she said.
