Two arrests on multiple drug related charges came last week after a multi-agency law enforcement investigation lasting several months.
Daniel Timothy Twitty, 52, of 250 Red Bush School Road, Blue Ridge, and James Robert Mealer, 58, of 373 Patterson Road, Copperhill, are both held in the Fannin County Jail without bond.
Twitty faces felony charges of Trafficking in Methamphetamine or Amphetamine, three counts of Possession of Firearm/Knife During Commission of a Crime, Possession of Schedule I (Psilocybin mushrooms), and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property; and a misdemeanor charge of Marijuana, Possession of less than one ounce.
Mealer faces a single felony charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine or Amphetamine.
Investigations Captain Justin Turner of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said information was received several months ago that began an investigation involving the sheriff’s office, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Cherokee County, Georgia, Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad.
That investigation created enough information regarding alleged drug trafficking across several jurisdictions for a search warrant for Twitty’s residence, which was served Wednesday, July 2.
Turner said that search resulted in the seizure of approximately nine ounces of methamphetamine, Schedule I mushrooms, and several firearms including one that was stolen.
According to warrants, Mealer was in possession of 28 grams of methamphetamine and Twitty was in possession of 255 grams.
