The City of McCaysville hosted a free microchipping event at Toccoa River Park June 28.
The event was sponsored by Fannin County Barking Buddies and Homeward Bound Pet Rescue.
Officer Luke McDonald from Fannin County Animal Control assisted with chipping 37 dogs.
Members of Barking Buddies volunteered at the event to assist pet owners and hand out free gift bags.
Volunteer Sue Peet from No Force Dog Training was on site to give advice to dog owners.
The Toccoa River Park hosts one of the locations of a free microchip scanning station that was recently installed, with a second location in Blue Ridge.
These stations can be used to verify a pet’s chip or look for a chip on a lost animal.
