  • The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Lucille. This one-year-old sweetheart is one of the Adoption Center’s longest residents and continues to wait patiently to be adopted by a loving family. Lucille has stunning gold eyes and a beautiful coat that looks like black velvet. She is calm, happy to meet people and gets along well with other cats once she gets to know them.     The weather outside is frightful so consider visiting Fannin County Animal Control to adopt a warm, furry four-legged friend today.

    This past week, four dogs were taken in by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, eight dogs were taken in by the Greenville Humane Society, and five dogs were taken in by animal control.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

    The animal control facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.
