Kaeden Twiggs chose to further his academic and athletic career Wednesday, May 12, as he signed a scholarship to play basketball for the Berea College Mountaineers.
Everyone met at the Fannin County Recreation Center to celebrate. On behalf of Athletic Director David Henson, FCHS Assistant Principal Heather Collis said, “It is a great accomplishment what you have done, it is huge, and what he (Twiggs) has done is not possible without everyone in this room. I am so excited to see what you do, and I know your family is too.”
Coach Joe Breeden spoke some words about Kaeden, saying, “I could not be more proud of him. They are getting a great young man. I am very proud of him, and very glad I got to know him and play a part in his basketball career. He is a hard worker and a great leader, and I expect great things from him.
Current Rebels Head Basketball Coach Bryan Richerson later spoke about Kaeden, saying, “To see him develop into a young man has been amazing. He is one of the most respectful kids I have been around, and that is a testament to his dad and his family. He has high academics, that is a reason why he is going to a great school at Berea College. For me as coach, this is my goal, helping kids that want to play at the next level. It is a proud moment for us and our basketball team. Kaeden has led this program over the last two years in scoring and rebounding and a lot of categories so, he will be truly missed.”
Richardson continued, “God has put him in the right situation, and we are happy for him and his family, and I look forward to taking some trips up to Ketucky to watch some basketball.”
Twiggs will join the Mountaineers this fall.
