The Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted the Border War Thursday, December 19, at Fannin County High School’s Rebel Stadium.
Team Tennessee consisted of seniors from Bradley County, Cleveland High, Polk County, Walker Valley, Meigs, McMinn, McMinn Central and Copper Basin.
Team Georgia consisted of seniors from Pickens County, Gilmer County, Fannin County, Union County and Towns County.
The Rebels had five players on the Georgia team: Treylyn Owensby, Will Mosely, Sarah Sosebee, JoJo Goodwin and Jackson Weeks. Copper Basin had one senior on Team Tennessee: Isaac Leslie.
Georgia got the ball to start the game, as Tennessee held forcing Georgia to punt.
Tennessee moved down the field with help from Isaac Leslie and the offensive line to get within scoring range.
Georgia held Tennessee to field goal as Tennessee took a 3-0 lead. The score stayed at 3-0 until 14.5 seconds in the second quarter when Tennessee was able to find paydirt to increase their lead 10-0 at halftime after the extra point.
Georgia held Tennessee to start the third quarter and got the ball back. Georgia strung together a drive with help from Jackson Weeks and Will Mosely that resulted in a Owensby touchdown run as Sarah Sosebee kicked the field goal to slice Tennessee’s lead 10-7.
Tennessee got the ball back and found a rhythm, moving down the field. They eventually scored with 59.1 seconds left in the third and after the extra point led 17-7.
Tennessee went on to score one more time in the fourth quarter, as Tennessee walked away with a 24-7 win over Georgia.
