Ten Fannin County High School wrestlers have qualified to compete in the State Traditional Wrestling Championships this weekend in Macon.
They earned the right to advance by their finishes this past weekend at the Sectional Traditionals tournament at Jeff Davis High School.
Wrestlers headed to Macon, and their finish in the sectional event, are:
•Taylor Collis, sectional champion;
•Corbin Davenport, sectional champion;
•Chelsey Frye, sectional runner-up;
•Blake Summers, third place;
•Carson Collis, third place;
•Colby Shaw, third place;
•Matthew Crowder, third place;
•Logan Long, third place;
•Cooper Moreland, fifth place,
•Thomas Golden, fifth place; and,
•Drake Cantrell, seventh place, qualified as an alternate.
Head Coach Chuck Patterson praised the wrestlers’ efforts, saying they represented the third most qualifiers in the entire AA classification and the most in school history when competing in a sectional tournament. There was no sectional tournament last year due to COVID-19.
