The Lady Cougars hosted the Tyner Lady Rams Tuesday, August 25, for a two-match region battle. Both teams played well, but the Lady Cougars were able to take control out of the gate and win both matches 3-0.
The Lady Cougars came out hot to start the game as Chelsea Stuart scored 25-points straight serving the ball to take the first set (25-0).
The Lady Rams tried to battle back in the second set, but Ross and Hickey helped Copper Basin recover, and win the set (25-21).
The Lady Cougars were able to take the third set easily as they topped the Lady Rams (25-12) to claim the first match.
In the first set of the second match, Destiny Pittman, Gracie Smith, Channing Beach and Albani Dotson played great defense, which turned into great offense and ultimately won the first set (25-15) for the Lady Cougars. The second set was similar to the first, with Makenna Miles, Sydney Hickey and Allie Ballew coming up big for Copper Basin. The Lady Cougars claimed the second set (25-12) to give Copper Basin a 2-0 lead. Copper Basin found their rhythm in the third set, as Sapporiah Ross, Raegan Higdon and Alley Foster played outstanding offense to take the set (25-6) to win the first match 3-0 to sweep Tyner and get two region wins.
