Three Fannin County Rec reation Department All Star teams recently had strong showings in district tournaments across North Georgia.
The 8U Girls softball team won the District 5 championship, which was held in Trion, Georgia, June 7 and 8. In their opening game, the Lady Rebels defeated Pickens County 16-8, and followed that up with a 14-3 win over host Trion.
Those two squared off again in the championship game and Fannin left no doubt on who the best team was by blowing out Trion by a score of 20-7.
Members of the 8U Girls Champions are Novalee Sisson, Addi Jo Stanley, Averi Stanley, Carlee Reece, Karissa Potts, Peyton Lindsey, Peyton Deal, Learh Rittenberry, Edith Garland, Kyndal Sams, Aniston Lambert, and Mia Golden. The girls were led by Head Coach Josh Underwood, and assistant Brady Stanley and Caycie Cook.
The 8U Boys competed in their District 5 Tournament in Calhoun, Georgia, June 7 through 11.
Fannin started the tournament off with a bang as they won a slugfest with Rockmart, coming out on top by a score of 21-18. With the win behind them, their attention turned to the State Tournament in Claxton, Georgia, June 22 through 24.
The 8U Boys team members are Cason Dyer, Elijah Crowder, Zeke Payne, Coltlee Jackson, Tucker Davenport, Aiden Owensby, Brenson Campbell, Wyatt Kennedy, Brock Holloway, Zander Sparks and Trevor Barnes. Coaches for the 8U Boys are Head Coach Jukie Dyer, and Assistant Coaches Tasha Anderson, Andy Dyer, Jeremy Payne and T.J. Ross.
The Fannin 10U Boys team competed in Bartow County June 7 through 12, and they picked up a huge win by defeating Rome 11-1. They are also heading to the State Tournament which will be held in Hazlehurst, Georgia, June 22 through 26.
Team members for the Fannin 10U Boys are Bentley Cole, Reece Hughes, Cooper Mathis, Toccoa Pugh, Lee Stuart, Owen Norton, Waylon Davenport, Haygen Mathis, Silas McFarland, Jake Ware, Branson Lance and Lukas Pack.
The 10U Rebels are led by Head Coach Brent Cole, and Assistant Coaches are Ken Stuart, John Hughes,and Adam Norton.
