Smith wins state honor; Gaddis, Sosebee named

Braiden “Brady” Smith has been chosen one of the “Most Positive” athletes in Georgia and Caylee Gaddis and Logan Sosebee are on the list of the “Most Positive” in the Northeast Georgia Region.

Smith was announced as a statewide winner last week by Fannin County High School Athletic Director Shannon York after the official announcement from Ryan Peterson of “Positive Athlete.”

Smith, Gaddis and Sosebee had just previously been announced as Northeast Georgia winners.

Smith was named Adapted Sports Athlete, Gaddis received her honor as Flag Football Athlete, and Sosebee was the Boys Alternate.

According to Positive Athlete, 6,800 nominees were entered statewide in categories recognizing 28 different boys and girls sports. The nominees represented 420 different public and private high schools.

The Northeast Georgia competition included athletes representing 13 counties, and 19 public and private high schools.

Positive athlete was  created by former University of Georgia and Pittsburgh Steelers star, Hines Ward, and businessman Scott Pederson as a movement for more positivity in youth sports. In addition to excellence on the field, each nominated Positive Athlete was required to show characteristics such as an optimistic attitude, teammate encouragement, servant leadership, heart for others, ability to admit imperfections, giving 100 percent all the time, and realizing the team as more important than the individual.

All three Fannin County High School athletes will be recognized at the school, and Smith will attend the Georgia Positive Athlete Awards Ceremony June 3 at NorthStar Church in Kennesaw.
