The Copper Basin Lady Cougars traveled to Sale Creek Friday, December 6, to take on the Lady Panthers in a district matchup.
The Lady Cougars started out strong, but slowed down in the second half of the game as the Lady Panthers came away with a 51-35 win.
The Lady Cougars spread the scoring around in the first quarter as Raegan Higdon hit a three ball. Skyler Nipper, Hailey Brackett, Emily Hemming and Laney Jory netted a two-point bucket each to give the Lady Cougars an 11-point first quarter. Copper Basin held Sale Creek to nine points for an 11-9 lead to start the second quarter.
Hemming led the Lady Cougars in the second, with the senior scoring four points on a two-point bucket and two free throws.
Jory, Brackett, Nipper and Riley Smith scored a two-point bucket each to give the Lady Cougars 12 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Panthers found a rhythm in the second and scored 15 points as they took a 24-23 lead over the Lady Cougars at halftime.
The Lady Cougars came out cold in the third, as Higdon kept her team in the game hitting two, three-point buckets. Brackett converted a free throw to cap a seven point third quarter for the Lady Cougars. Sale Creek scored 18 points in the third to lead 42-30 to start the fourth.
Higdon drained another three-point bucket from deep and Brackett converted two free throws for a five points fourth quarter.
The Lady Panthers scored nine points in the fourth as the Lady Cougars fell 51-35.
