Rebels shine in cross country meet at Murphy

The Fannin County High School Cross Country team competed in Murphy, North Carolina Saturday, September 24.The grass glistened in the early-morning dew  as 11 teams bolted across the football field.

Zechariah Prater took the lead for the Rebels. An unfortunate wrong turn  in the course made him lose his position and he would cross the finish line in fourth place followed by Gaven Davis in 11th, Luke Callihan in 14th, Benjamin Bloch in 22nd, Conner Kyle in 26th, Sam Jabaley in 40th , and Brady Smith in 89th. The teams’ effort was good enough to secure a third place victory.

The Lady Rebels would be the next to run as they faced off against four other teams. Lindsey Holloway took the lead for the team. She crossed the finish line in fourth place. Kristin Cipich would trail behind in tenth achieving a personal record of 23:25. Karli Sams followed in 23rd, Olivia Temples in 25th and Shaylee Jones  rounded out the team in 31st. Their performance gave the team a third place finish.
