The Fannin County Rebels baseball team defeated Gordon Central Varsity Warriors 15-0 Tuesday, April 15, thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning.
Carson Callihan tripled, scoring one run; an error scored two runs; Kaden Davis drew a walk, scoring one run; Callihan drew a walk, scoring one run, and Colton Gray singled, scoring two runs.
The Rebels added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Tucker Dockery grounded out, Davis doubled down the right field line, and Elijah Weaver hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Fannin added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Casen Bailey walked, and Heath Bradburn was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Davis helped earned the win as the hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none.
Bailey tossed one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Fannin County in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
Davis, Callihan, Gray, Bristol Hughes, and Gavin Davis each drove in two runs for the Rebels. Callihan led the team with two hits in two at bats. The Rebels worked the count all day, collecting eight walks. They were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gray made the most plays with three.
