The Fannin County Rebel baseball team and Dade County Wolverines battled it out for seven innings, but it was Dade County that scored late in the fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead that they held onto until the end of the game as the Rebels fell 4-2.
Logan Hughes started on the mound for the Rebels, pitching four and a third innings, striking out one batter. Tyler Fox, Caleb Postell, and Jordan Bennett came on in relief, combining for two strike-outs.
Despite falling to the Wolverines, Fannin out-hit Dade County 6-4, with Jason Pearson getting two hits, while Bradley Holloway, Chance Stacy, and Landon Norton collected one hit each.
Fannin batted in the top of the first inning and was unable to score as they took the field.
Dade County was able to score two quick runs before the Rebels got three outs to take a 2-0 lead, where the score stayed until the top of the third inning.
After Dade County got two quick outs, the Rebels began rolling as Pearson singled and later scored with a Holloway double to right field.
Hughes then drilled a ball to center field that allowed Holloway to cross home plate and tie the game 2-2 before the Wolverines got off the field.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Fannin could not score in the top of the fifth, as Dade County was able to go around the diamond twice for two runs to retake the lead.
The Rebels could not generate enough offense in the sixth or seventh innings to come back as the Wolverines took the region match-up 4-2.
