Rebels honored for basketball efforts

    These Fannin County High School Rebel basketball players were recognized for their individual contributions to this year’s season, which saw the team place second in Region 7AA and earn a trip to post season play.     Members of the Fannin County High School Rebels basketball team were honored recently for their accomplishments this past season.

    The Rebels posted a 15-13 overall record, and went 8-4 to finish in second place in Region 7AA. This earned the team a spot in post season play for the first time in recent memory.

    Fannin poured in 1664 points to 1588 for their opponents in the course of 28 games.

    The effort represented an improvement over the previous season that produced a 3-23 mark.

    Head Coach Bryan Richerson presented the awards.

    Ben Bloch and Jordan Richerson were named Co-Player of the Year.

    The team Defensive Award went to Isaiah Angel.

    Matthew Ponton was presented the Assist Award.

    The 6th Man Award was presented to Hudson Ethington.

    Kolton Kaylor took home the Rebounding Award for his efforts under the basket.

    Receiving the Most Improved Award was Cole Gribble.

    Four Rebels were also recognized for their performance in the classroom. These were Ben Bloch, Hudson Ethington, Jordan Richerson and Matthew Ponton.
