The Fannin County Rebels hosted the East Hall Vikings Tuesday, December 17. Fannin started out strong, but East Hall was able to hold the Rebels off as Fannin lost 61-54 to the region rival.
Kaeden Twiggs and Landon Norton led the Rebels in the first quarter, with Twiggs netting five points on a two-point bucket and two free throws and Norton scoring four points on a three-point bucket and a free throw. The duo combined for eight points as the Rebels trailed the Vikings 15-8 to start the second.
Fannin found a rhythm at the free throw strip in the second, as Jerritt Holloway converted four free throws and Miles Johnson converted two.
Twiggs got a two-point bucket to fall as well as two free throws, while Jalen Ingram and Norton scored a two-point bucket each for a 14-point Rebel second quarter.
The Vikings were able to net 17 points in the second to take a 32-22 lead at halftime.
The Rebels came out in the third quarter and scored 13 points led by Cohutta Hyde and Twiggs.
The duo combined for eight points with each scoring two, two-point buckets. Ingram and Johnson scored a two-point bucket each in the paint and Brady Martin converted a free throw. East Hall netted 14 points in the third as the Vikings led 46-35.
Fannin found a rhythm in the fourth quarter and was able to outscore the Vikings 19-15.
Hyde totaled seven points on two, two-point buckets and three free throws. Twiggs converted five free throws and Jordan Bennett rattled in two, two-point buckets.
Johnson capped the Rebels scoring with a two-point bucket and a free throw. Fannin’s comeback effort was not enough as the Rebels fell 61-54.
