The Fannin County Rebels traveled to Atlanta Tuesday, January 7, to take on the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans in a region battle. The Rebels fought hard, but were unable to win as the fell to GAC 46-40.
Jalen Ingram led the Rebels in the first quarter, working the paint for two, two-point baskets. Miles Johnson and Cohutta Hyde netted a two-point basket each to cap an eight points first quarter for Fannin.
The Spartans scored 11 points in the first to lead 11-8.
Johnson bullied his way to the rim in the paint, scoring scoring five points on two, two-point buckets and a free throw. Brady Martin and Andre Bivens scored a two point bucket, while Landon Norton converted a free throw to give the Rebels a 10-point second quarter.
GAC scored 11 points in the second as they held on to a 22-18 lead at halftime.
Jordan Bennet led the Rebels in the third quarter, netted a three-point bucket, while Ingram and Johnson combined for four points on a two-point bucket each.
The Rebels held the Spartans to seven points in the third as GAC led 29-25 to start the fourth quarter.
The Rebels tallied 15 points in the fourth led by Norton who made two, three-point baskets. Ingram scored a two-point bucket down low and converted a free throw, while Johnson and Hyde netted a two-point basket each. Martin converted two free throws to cap a 15-point fourth quarter for the Rebels.
GAC tallied 17 points to escape with a 46-40 win over Fannin.
