The Fannin County Rebels basketball team hosted region rival Greater Atlanta Christian for the last home game of the season Friday, January 31. The Rebels started out strong, but the Spartans were able to come away with a 64-33 victory.
Fannin scored six points in the first quarter, with Jerritt Holloway and Jalen Ingram knocking in a two-point basket each. Cohutta Hyde fought his way to the free throw line, where he converted two to cap the first quarter scoring for the Rebels.
GAC tallied 15 points in the first to hold a 15-6 lead over the Rebels. Fannin rallied back in the second, as Cohutta Hyde scored six points on three, two-point buckets. Kaeden Twiggs and Miles Johnson got a two-point basket to fall each, while Ingram converted two free throws for a 12-point second quarter for Fannin. GAC netted 14 points in the second to increase their lead 29-18 at halftime.
GAC had the hot hand to start the third, outscoring the Rebels 17-7. Landon Norton, Johnson and Hyde scored a two-point bucket each, while Ingram capped the scoring with a free throw. Fannin trailed the Spartans 46-25 at the end of the third.
The Rebels tried to make a comeback in the fourth, with Dylan Collins scoring four points on two, two-point buckets. Eli Brisbay-Cochran netted a two-point basket, while Johnson and Hyde converted one free throw each. The comeback effort was not enough for Fannin as they fell to Spartans 64-33.
