Rebels fall in close contest

The Fannin County High School Rebels baseball team lost a hard fought April 3 game against Gordon Lee 4-3.

Gordon Lee’s pitcher and defense held the Rebels at zero runs until the fifth inning.

On the Fannin side, the game also depended on defense. Over the course of the game, pitcher Bristol Hughes struck out seven Gordon Lee Batters.

Along with the defense, he shut out Gordon Lee for four of the game’s seven innings.

But in the third inning, Gordon Lee managed to score a run.

Then Gordon Lee got two more in the fourth.

In the fifth inning, Fannin managed to rally.

A team effort got Gavin Davis, Hughes and Drew Barfield home.

Elijah Weaver, Carson Callihan and Colton Gray all walked, loading the bases.

But at that point, Gordon Lee’s pitcher struck out the Rebels. From there, the Gordon Lee defense didn’t give the Rebels another run.
