Pass, Pero, Pittman free throw winners

Taber Pass of Turtletown captured a statewide first place in the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship held at All Saints Catholic Church gym in Atlanta March 5.

Pass was one of three local winners who competed in Atlanta.

Pass won first place in the 11-year-old girls event. Andrew Pero of Ducktown came home with fourth place for the 11-year-old boys, and Dawson Pittman of Ducktown captured fourth place among 12-year-old boys.

Jack Devine, of the Knights of Columbus Blue Ridge Council #12126, who organized the event, said over 60 players representing councils all over Georgia took part in the March 5 event. Competitions were divided between girls and boys in age groups from 9 to 14 years old, with each player attempting 25 free throws. Devine said many winners connected on over 20 of their attempts.

“Congratulations to the participants and their families who consistently showed great sportsmanship and dedication,” Devine said.
