Luke Holloway NAIA Player of the Week

Former Fannin County Rebel and current Cumberland Phoenix quarterback Luke Holloway was recently named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week, as well as the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, after leading the Phoenix to a huge win over number four ranked Bethel October 12.

It was the second time Holloway has won the conference’s player of the week in the 2024 season.

Holloway led Cumberland to a win over Bethel, throwing for 232 yards and a touchdown pass, as well as rushing for another to get his team to 5-1 on the year.

So far in 2024, Holloway has thrown for 1,057 yards and nine touchdowns, completing 66 percent of his passes. On the ground, Holloway has rushed for 537 yards and seven more touchdowns.

“The accolades are cool and everything, but they don’t mean anything if we don’t get the win to back it up,” said Holloway. “The accolades are also more of a testament to our offense as a whole and not just myself. Without the offensive line playing the way they did and the skill guys around me doing their job, none of it would have been possible. Beating Bethel was a huge win for our team. It has been a hard fought game the last couple of years, but we haven’t been able to come out on top. It also just makes it that much sweeter that they were ranked so high. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for this team. We have a lot of talented guys making plays, and I’m looking forward to see how the rest of the season plays out.”
