The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team hosted the Lumpkin County Lady Indians Tuesday, December 10, for a region matchup. The Lady Rebels came out strong on both sides of the ball, winning the game 51-38.
Natalie Thomas led the Lady Rebels in the first quarter, knocking in two, three-point buckets from deep. Senior Morgan Holt scored five points on two, two-point buckets and a free throw, while Regan York netted a three-point basket.
Becca Ledford scored on a two-point layup in the first to give Fannin 16 points in the first quarter. The Lady Rebels defense was solid as well, holding the Lady Indians scoreless for a 16-0 lead.
Becca Ledford led Fannin in the second quarter, scoring a three-point bucket from deep. Abby Ledford and Holt scored a two-point bucket each and York capped the second quarter scoring for the Lady Rebels with a free throw. Lumpkin put up 14 points in the second as the Lady Rebels clinged to a 24-14 lead at the half.
Abby Ledford caught fire in the third quarter, scoring five points on a three ball and a two-point bucket.
York got a three-point bucket to fall, while Mackenzie Johnson and Becca Ledford scored a two-point bucket each. Fannin outscored the Lady Indians 12-10 in the third quarter to give the Lady Rebels a 36-24 lead to end the third quarter.
Fannin was lights out from the free throw line in the fourth, as they converted 7-9 from the stripe.
Abby Ledford scored six points on two, two-point buckets and two free throws.
York got a two-point bucket to fall in the paint, as well as three free throws.
Holt scored on a two-point bucket and Becca Ledford converted two free throws for a 15-point fourth quarter.
Lumpkin tallied 14 points in the fourth, as the Lady Rebels held on top the Lady Indians 51-38.
