The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team traveled to North Hall Wednesday, February 5, to take on Lumpkin County in the region tournament.
The Lady Rebels started out strong and with help from Natalie Thomas, who sank six, three-point buckets in the game, Fannin was able to top the Lady Indians 55-45 and advance in the tournament.
The Lady Rebels tallied 13 points in the first quarter, with Reagan York leading the way with four points on two, two-point baskets. Mackenzie Johnson, Abby Ledford and Becca Ledford scored a two-point basket each, while Thomas netted a three ball.
The Lady Rebels held Lumpkin to eight points in the first for a 13-8 lead.
Lumpkin County answered in the second quarter, outscoring Fannin 20-13. Becca Ledford netted seven points in the second with three, two-point buckets and a free throw.
Thomas drained her second three-point basket of the night in the second and York scored three points on a two-point bucket and free throw.
The Lady Rebels trailed the Lady Indians 28-26 at halftime. Lumpkin County was able to increase their lead in the third, outscoring Fannin 14-13. Becca Ledford and Johnson combined for eight points on two, two-point baskets each, while Thomas converted her third three-point bucket of the night.
Saidee Collins worked the post and was able to score a two-point basket to cap the third quarter scoring as the Lady Rebels trailed Lumpkin 42-39.
The Lady Rebels rallied in the fourth quarter, led by Thomas, who sank three, three-point baskets and a free throw.
Becca Ledford and Collins converted two free throws each, while Johnson and York converted one free throw each for a 16-point fourth quarter.
Fannin played stellar defense in the fourth, holding the Lady Indians to just three points as the Lady Rebels pulled out a 55-45 win over Lumpkin County.
