Lady Rebels top East Hall with explosive scoring

The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team hosted the East Hall Lady Vikings for a region matchup Tuesday, December 17. For the Lady Rebels, a win would put them at 3-2 in conference play on the season.

Fannin started slow, but a 13-point second quarter helped boost the Lady Rebels to a 39-28 win over East Hall.

Abby Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the first, as the junior was able to score four points on two, two-point buckets.

Morgan Holt and Reagan York scored a two-point bucket each to give Fannin an eight point first quarter.

The Lady Vikings tallied 10 points in the first to take a 10-8 lead. The Lady Rebels rallied in the second quarter, outscoring East Hall 13-4.

Mackenzie Johnson and Jenna Young netted three points on a two-point bucket and a free throw, while Abby Ledford, Holt and Olivia Sisson scored on a two-point bucket each. Saidee Collins muscled her way to the free throw line, where she converted a free throw. The Lady Rebels were able to shut down East Hall’s offense to take a 21-14 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was more of the same for Fannin, as East Hall came out cold, scoring four points. The Lady Rebels were able to put up eight points from Becca Ledford, Abby Ledford and Holt scoring a two-point bucket each, while Johnson sunk two free throws.

Fannin led 29-18 to start the fourth quarter.  The Lady Vikings started to make a comeback in the fourth, but the Lady Rebels were able to convert at the free throw stripe in crunch time to get the win.

Johnson netted four free throws, while Holt converted two and Collins and Becca Ledford converted on each.

Abby Ledford netted a two point bucket to hold off the Lady Vikings 39-28. The Lady Rebels are now 8-2 on the season overall.
