Lady Rebels split games

The Fannin County Lady Rebels volleyball team traveled to Cherokee Bluff, Tuesday, September 24, for a tri-match against the Lady Bears and Madison County Red Raiders.

The Lady Rebels did well on the evening, splitting games. Fannin topped Cherokee Bluff 2-1 and fell to the Red Raiders 2-1. In the first match against region rival Cherokee Bluff, the Lady Rebels jumped out to an early lead, claiming the first set (25-17). The Lady Bears rallied in the second set however, and pulled off a (25-21) win to tie the game up and take it to the final set.

The Lady Rebels buckled down in the third set and won a hard fought (15-12) battle for the region victory.

The Lady Rebels had 22 kills in the match with Cheyanne Tilson leading the way with 11.

Becca Ledford and Paige Foresman collected four kills each and Carly Crawford had two. Abby Ledford had one kill in the game.

The Lady Rebels faced Madison County in the final match of the evening as the Lady Rebels fell behind early and could not recover. The Red Raiders came out and claimed the first set (25-15), but the Lady Rebels did not quit. Fannin was able to take the second set (25-22) to send it to the final set.

The Red Raiders played well, winning the third set (15-5). The Lady Rebels were able to collect eight aces in the match, with Abby Ledford leading the way with three. Sydney Jones had two, while Tilson, Foresman, and Reagan York collected one ace each.
