Lady Rebels softball team holds banquet

The Fannin County Lady Rebel junior varsity and varsity softball teams held their end of season banquet Monday, November 18, at the Blue Ridge First Baptist Church’s youth building.

Head coach Alan Collis started with the junior varsity team.

Each junior varsity player was recognized by Collis as he brought up memorable times from the season.

Josilynn Newton won Pitcher of the Year Award for junior varsity, while Chelsey Frye won Defensive Player of the Year.

Kalliee Stanley won Offensive Player of the Year, as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Award. Zoe Putnam won the Coaches Award and Madison Mitchum took home the Most Improved Award. Teagan Cioffi won the Scholar Athlete Award. The varsity team was recognized next, with Collis calling up all varsity players to be recognized.

Senior Kaelyn Hensley won Pitcher of the Year Award and the Coaches Award, with assistant coach Travis Stone calling her “Bulldog” for her attitude she brings to the team. Senior catcher Eryn Mealer won Defensive Player of the Year for her ability to defend not just home plate, but every base with her arm talent.

Kayleigh Russell won the Rebel Award, while Emily Waldrep won Offensive Player of the Year for her abilities at the plate. Emma Mitchell won Most Improved, Scholar Athlete and the FCA Awards. 

Kelsey Russell was given the team Most Valuable Player Award for all she has done this past season to help the Lady Rebels softball team.
