Lady Rebels roll over Chestatee to remain undefeated

The Lady Rebels are off to a hot start this year, handily winning their first two games. The Lady Rebels looked to remain unbeaten when they hosted Chestatee, Wednesday, August 25 and were able to get the bats going and win the game 14-6.

Josilynn Newton started in the pitcher’s circle for Fannin, throwing two innings and striking out three War Eagles. Natalie Herendon came on in relief, pitching four innings and striking out seven batters.

The Lady Rebels were impressive at the plate, out-hitting Chestatee 13-4. The War Eagles were up to bat first, but the Lady Rebel defense did not allow a run as they got off of the field.

The Lady Rebels batted in the bottom of the first, as leadoff Riley Davis singled to get things started. Davis was later knocked in by a Zoe Putnam RBI to give Fannin a 1-0 lead. Jaylen Green and Herendon walked before Newton crushed a double to left field to bring both Green and Herendon home for two runs to give Fannin a 3-0 lead to end the first inning.

Chestatee erupted for four runs in the top of the second to claim a 4-3 lead before the Lady Rebels could get off the field.

Jayden Bailey and Davis singled for the Lady Rebels to start the bottom of the second. Putnam then hit a single to center field to bring Bailey home to even the score.

Putnam and Green later scored with help from a Newton hit and a Chestatee error as the Lady Rebels reclaimed the lead 6-4 to end the second inning.

Fannin held the War Eagles scoreless in the top of the third, as the Lady Rebels prepared to bat. Bailey and Davis were able to cross home plate in the bottom of the third as Fannin padded their lead 8-4 to end the inning.

The Lady Rebels held Chestatee scoreless in the top of the fourth, with Newton and Callie Ensley crossing home plate for Fannin in the bottom of the fourth to give the Lady Rebels a 10-4 lead.

The War Eagles tried to come back in the top of the fifth and sixth as they scored one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth. Fannin was held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth but erupted for four runs in the bottom of the sixth as Newton, Aidyn Patterson, Kharcee Hughes and Bailey scored to ultimately put the game out of reach for Chestatee.

Fannin won the game 14-6 and advanced to 3-0 in the regular season.
