Lady Rebels honored during banquet

The Fannin County Lady Rebels varsity and junior varsity basketball players held their end-of-season banquet Monday, May 3, at the Fannin County High School gym. The junior varsity team was recognized first, and promises a bright future for the up and coming Lady Rebels. The junior varsity squad had an undefeated season, going 10-0.

After the junior varsity was recognized, the varsity Lady Rebels team was honored. Abby Ledford and Courtney Davis were recognized for winning the Northwest Georgia Tip-Off Club Players of the Month while Becca Ledford won Player of the Year.

Mackenzie Johnson and Reagan York were recognized for being named to the 7-AA All Region Second Team, while Courtney Davis and Abby Ledford were named to the All Region First Team. Becca Ledford won Co-Player of the Year for Region 7-AA.

For individual awards, winners were:

•Davis, Newcomer of the Year;

•York, All Around Impact Award;

•Natalie Thomas, Sixth Man of the Year, netted 61 three-pointers on the season;

•Olivia Sisson, Own the Paint Award;

•Johnson, Defensive Player of the Year;

•Abby Ledford, Standard of Excellence;

•Becca Ledford, Player of the Year.

The Lady Rebels wrote many records in the Fannin County history books this season, were recognized by the Georgia High School Association with medals, and added several trophies to the FCHS collection.
