The Fannin County Lady Rebel softball team had a full crowd Tuesday, October 5, when they hosted region rival Model. For three Lady Rebels, it was senior night, as Jaylen Green, Riley Davis and Kharcee Hughes were honored.
Fannin and the Blue Devils found themselves in a defensive battle, with no runs being scored until the sixth inning.
It was Model who got things going notching five runs and eventually winning the game 5-0.
Natalie Herendon started in the pitcher’s circle for Fannin, throwing five and two-thirds innings, sitting down four Blue Devils. Josilynn Newton came on in relief pitching one and a third innings.
The Blue Devils started at the plate in the top of the first, but the Lady Rebels defense shut them down. Unfortunately, Model’s defense was solid as well as they kept Fannin from touching home plate.
With the game scoreless up until the top of the sixth, Model was able to score five runs to take a 5-0 lead before Fannin could get off the field.
The Lady Rebels could not generate any runs on the bottom of the sixth or seventh, despite two hits from Callie Ensley, and one hit each from Zoe Putnam, Aaleyah Rogers and Jayden Bailey. The Lady Rebels fell to the Blue Devils 5-0.
