The Fannin County Lady Rebel basketball team traveled to Lumpkin County for the Kelly King Holiday Classic basketball tournament Monday, December 21. A slow start plagued the Lady Rebels as they fell to the Lady Indians 61-27.
The Lumpkin County defense kept Fannin from scoring the first quarter as the Indians took an 11-0 lead to end the first quarter. The Lady Rebels got into a groove in the second quarter as Reagan York knocked in a long-range three ball, followed by Mackenzie Johnson and Prisila Bautista converting a free throw each to cap a five point second quarter for the Lady Rebels. Lumpkin netted 13 points in the second to lead the Lady Rebels 24-5 at halftime.
Becca Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the third quarter as she knocked in two, three-point baskets and a two-point bucket for eight points.
Ledford was the lone Lady Rebel scorer in the third quarter as Fannin trailed Lumpkin County 42-13 to start the final quarter.
Abby Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the fourth scoring 11 points on a three ball, two, two-point baskets and three free throws. Natalie Thomas made a two-point basket, and York converted two free throws to cap a 14-point fourth quarter for the Lady Rebels. Lumpkin was able to score 19 points in the fourth as they won the game 61-27.
