Lady Rebels fall to Lady Cats

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebel volleyball team hit the court Wednesday, August 12, at home, against Highway 515 rival, the Gilmer County Lady Cats.

Fannin County played well in the best of five match, but unfortunately fell behind early and could not recover as they fell to the Lady Cats (3-0).

The Lady Rebels went back and forth with Gilmer to start the first set, with Rachel Prater and Becca Ledford coming up big for the Lady Rebels.

The Lady Cats were able to go on a run and eventually claimed the first set (25-18) over Fannin.

The Lady Rebels buckled down in the second set, with Paige Foresman and Abby Ledford making key plays. Fannin County’s efforts got them to extra volleys with Gilmer, but ultimately it was the Lady Cats that claimed the second set (28-26).

Gilmer County had the momentum heading into the third set. The Lady Rebels battled with the Lady Cats, but Gilmer ended up claiming the third set to seal the match (3-0).

Fannin County is set to take on Stephens County Tuesday, August 18, at Stephens County starting at 5 p.m.
