The Fannin County Lady Rebel basketball team hosted the Habersham Lady Raiders for a preseason basketball game Thursday, November 12. The game came down to the final buzzer, but the Lady Raiders managed to squeak out a 45-41 win.
Becca Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the first quarter, scoring six points on two, two-point baskets and two free throws. Abby Ledford netted five points in the first on a three ball and two-point bucket, and Olivia Sisson worked the paint to muscle out a two-point basket to give the Lady Rebels 13-points in the first quarter. The Lady Rebels were solid defensively as well, holding the Lady Raiders to 11 points in the first to lead 13-11.
Both teams continued their defensive energy in the second quarter, as neither team scored double digits. Jenna Young found success inside the perimeter, scoring four points on two, two-point baskets. Mackenzie Johnson and Becca Ledford tallied a two-point bucket each in the second to give the Lady Rebels eight points in the second quarter. Fannin held the Lady Raiders to seven points in the second as they held on to a 21-18 lead at halftime.
Becca Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the third quarter, knocking down a long range three ball and a two-point basket for five points in the quarter. Prisila Bautista netted a long range three ball, followed by Reagan York fighting her way to the free throw stripe to convert a free throw.
Sisson and Abby Ledford scored a two-point basket each to cap a 13-point third quarter for Fannin. The Raiders scored 14 points to trim the Lady Rebels lead 34-32 to start the final quarter.
Natalie Thomas drained a three-point bucket and Becca Ledford converted three free throws, while Johnson converted one free throw for seven points in the fourth quarter.
Habersham netted 14 points in the fourth to take the lead in the final minutes and win 45-41 over the Lady Rebels.
