Lady Rebels fall to GAC in region tournament

The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team traveled to East Hall High School Friday, February 7, to take on Greater Atlanta Christian in the Region Tournament. The Lady Rebels played well, but the Lady Spartans were able to pull away in the fourth to win 55-43.

GAC jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the first, with Natalie Thomas and Mackenzie Johnson scoring a two-point basket each, followed by Reagan York converting two free throws.

Thomas heated up from beyond the arc in the second, scoring six points on two, three-point baskets. Abby Ledford netted three points on a two-point bucket and a free throw, while Becca Ledford rattled in a two-point basket. GAC was able to outscore the Lady Rebels 12-11 in the second to take a 22-17 lead at halftime. Fannin came out in the third firing on all cylinders, outscoring the Lady Spartans 12-9.

Becca Ledford converted a two-point bucket and two free throws, while Abby Ledford and Thomas found the bottom of the net on two free throws each. Olivia Sisson and Saidee Collins scored a two-point bucket each down low to cap the third quarter scoring as the Lady Rebels cut the GAC lead 31-29. Becca Ledford heated up in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points on two, three-point buckets, two, two-point buckets and two free throws. York got a two-point basket to fall for a 14-point fourth quarter for Fannin.

GAC was able to heat up as well, scoring 24 points in the fourth to withstand the Lady Rebels comeback attempt and top Fannin 55-43.
