Mazie Goble drove home the first goal for the Lady Rebels as Fannin County picked up a 4-0 region win over the visiting Pepperell Lady Dragons in soccer action Thursday, February 24, on Fannin’s home field.
Goble’s kick was the only first half score before the Lady Rebels scored three goals in the second half.
Madison Ponton put Fannin ahead 2-0 off an assist by Goble with 24:38 left in the second half.
With 6:57 to go in the match, Goble scored her second goal off an assist by Stephanie Kirk to put Fannin ahead 3-0.
Barely more than a minute had ticked off the clock when Taylor Poland scored off an assist by Hannah Sosebee.
Defense again shined for Fannin County as Hannah McSwain led the team with eight steals. Kinsley Sullivan and Cali Tuggle had four steals each, and Aaliyah Green and Emma Richardson came away with three steals each. Stephanie recorded two steals.
Goal keeper Rachael Jessen was credited with three saves.
The win left Fannin County 6-0 overall and 3-0 in region play. The Lady Rebels remained ranked sixth in the state Monday at Eurosportssocreboard.com.
The next home match for the girls is Friday, March 4, at 5 p.m., followed by boys’ soccer action at 7 p.m.
