The Fannin County Lady Rebels softball team traveled to Gordon Central Wednesday, September 9, to take on the Warriors in a conference battle.
Fannin got on a roll early and never stopped as they were able to top the Warriors 7-0. Jayden Bailey started in the circle for the Lady Rebels, pitching seven innings and striking out one batter.
Fannin collected 15 hits in the game with Jadeyn Holloway leading the team with four. After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Rebels batted in the top of the second. Jaylen Green and Hollway both singled to get on base. Green went on to score with help from an RBI by Bailey to give Fannin a 1-0 lead. Payton Beardon was able to hit a line drive to knock Holloway in to increase Fannin’s lead 2-0.
The Lady Rebels held the Warriors in the bottom of the second as they clung to their 2-0 lead to end the second inning. Neither team crossed home plate in the third inning as the Lady Rebels batted in the top of the fourth.
Green walked and was able to score after Holloway slugged a triple to add to the Lady Rebels’ lead. Bailey singled and was able to knock Holloway in to add another run in the top of the fourth. Fannin County held Gordon Central in the bottom of the fourth to keep a 4-0 lead.
Neither team scored in the fifth inning, but the Lady Rebels were able to cross home plate in the top of sixth as Zoe Putnam, Riley Davis and Emma Mitchell singled to load the bases for Fannin. Putnam stole home to increase the Lady Rebels lead to 5-0.
Fannin held Gordon Central scoreless in the bottom of the sixth as the Lady Rebels took the plate in the top of the seventh.
Green was able to score, followed by Holloway to cap a 7-0 win for the Lady Rebels.
