The Fannin County Lady Rebels started region play with a win Tuesday, December 7, at home against the Model Blue Devils. The Lady Rebels jumped out early and never looked back as they won the game 64-32.
Fannin netted 16 points in the first quarter as sophomore Courtney Davis led Fannin with seven points. Davis knocked in a long-range three ball, followed by two, two-point baskets. Becca Ledford netted three, two-point baskets. Reagan York capped the scoring for the Lady Rebels with a two-point basket and a free throw.
The Lady Rebels held Model to eight points in the first as they led 16-8.
Multiple Lady Rebels scored in the second quarter as Jenna Young and Reigan O’Neal combined for eight points on two, two-point baskets each.
Davis scored four points on a two-point basket and two free throws, while Cook and Ledford netted a two-point basket each. York fought her way to the free throw line and converted one free throw to cap a 17-point second quarter for Fannin.
Model scored seven points in the second as The Lady Rebels held on to a 33-15 lead at halftime.
Fannin’s high offensive output continued in the third quarter as Davis tallied six points on a two-point basket and four free throws. York held down the paint, churning out two, two-point baskets for four points, while Ledford converted a two-point floater. Queen and Cook converted one free throw each to finish the scoring for Fannin in the third as they netted 14 points. The Blue Devils scored seven points on the third as Fannin increased their lead 47-22.
Fannin tallied 17 points in the fourth quarter as O’Neal led the team with five points on a three-point basket and two point bucket. Ledford muscled in a two-point basket, followed by two free throws, while Cook found the bottom of the net on a long-distance three-point basket. Davis scored three points on a two-point basket and free throw.
York finished off the scoring with a two-point basket down low, as the Lady Rebel defense held Model to 10 points in the fourth to give Fannin their first region win.
The final score from Blue Ridge was 64-32.
