Reese Lewis scored 19 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to carry the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team past Christian Heritage, 64-57, Friday, February 13, and earn the title of regular season Region Champions.
The close game featured 11 lead changes. The Lady Rebels got out to a 27-25 lead at halftime before closing out the victory.
The fourth quarter was the best for Fannin as they outscored Christian Heritage 20-12 and had four assists in the quarter.
Albany Cole, Toccoa Hampton, and Izzie Jabaley each hit multiple three-pointers for Fannin County.
The Lady Rebels rebounded the ball well, collecting 36 rebounds. Lewis led the team with 18 rebounds. As a team, the Lady Rebels passed the ball well with 10 assists on 21 made baskets and blocked 10 shots in the game. Lewis led the team with eight blocks.
Behind Lewis’ 19 points were Hampton and Jabaley each had 15 points, Cole added 13 points, and Ethington put up two points in the Lady Rebels’ win.
This season, the Lady Rebels are 23-2 and 14-0 in Region 7 A-D1. They will start the postseason in the Region Tournament, Thursday, February 19, at Armuchee High School with a game at 7 p.m.
