The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team tipped off their 2019-2020 season Tuesday, November 19, against Southeast Whitfield High School.
The Lady Rebels found a rhythm on both sides of the ball as they won the game 72-24.
The Lady Rebels netted 14 points in the first quarter, led by Abby Ledford. Ledford had 10 points off of two, three-point buckets and two, two-point baskets.
Morgan Holt scored four points on two, two-point buckets as the Lady Rebel defense held the Lady Raiders to two points for a 14-2 Lady Rebel lead.
Ledford and Holt continued their hot hands in the second, tallying 12 points on three, two-point baskets each.
Becca Ledford scored three points on a two-point bucket and a free throw, while Paige Foresman was able to get a two-point basket to fall.
Regan York converted two free throws to cap a 19 point Lady Rebel second quarter.
Fannin’s defense held the Lady Raider to nine points in the second as Fannin headed into the locker room with a 33-11 lead.
The Lady Rebels did not cool down after halftime as their offense exploded for 18 points in the third quarter.
Abby Ledford led the way for the Lady Rebels, scoring two, three point buckets for six points.
Prisila Bautista, Holt and Mackenzie Johnson combined for nine points on a two-point bucket and free throw each.
Olivia Sisson worked the paint and churned out a two-point bucket to cap the Lady Rebels third quarter scoring.
The Lady Raiders were held to nine points in the third as the Lady Rebels took a 51-20 lead to head into the fourth quarter.
Holt led Fannin to a 21 point fourth quarter as the senior scored eight points on a three-point bucket and two, two-point basket. York and Becca Ledford combined for eight points on two, two-point baskets each. Natalie Thomas drained a three-point basket and Bautista scored three points on a two-point bucket and a free throw. At the final buzzer the Lady Rebels won the game 72-24 and are now 1-0 on the season.
