Lady Cougars sweep Polk County

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars volleyball team hosted the Polk County Lady Cats Monday, August 31, for a region matchup. For the Lady Cougars, a win against the Lady Cats would mean a season sweep.

The Lady Cougars never laid down, and was able to sweep Polk County for a 3-0 win.

The first set was a battle between both teams. Copper Basin started off strong, but the Lady Cats battled back to make it a close game. Destiny Pittman, Gracie Smith and Chelsea Stuart helped keep the lead and eventually the first set win for Copper Basin, as they topped the Lady Cats (25-21) in the first set.

The second set was a harder battle than the first, with Polk County jumping out to an early lead.

The Lady Cougars kept their composure, however, as Channing Beach, Albani Dotson, Makenna Miles and Sydney Hickey battled on defense to help Copper Basin pull ahead and win the second set (25-22).

The Lady Cougars found their rhythm in the third set as Allie Ballew, Sapporiah Ross, Raegan Higdon and Ally Foster chipped in on offense and easily claimed the set (25-14) for the victory and the season sweep.
