The Copper Basin Lady Cougar volleyball team opened up the 2020 season with a region home game against the Tellico Bears.
Both teams battled hard, taking the match all the way to the fifth set, but it was Tellico who came back from behind to take a (3-2) victory over Copper Basin.
Copper Basin jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Sydney Hickey, Sapporiah Ross and Destiny Pittman all played well in the set.
Chelsea Stuart was able to string together a couple aces as well to help the Lady Cougars to a 25-13 win to take a (1-0) lead.
Tellico was able to get hot in the second set, jumping out to an early lead, which ended in the Bears winning the second set 25-17 to even the match (1-1).
The third set was a back-and-forth battle for both teams, but Channing Beach, Raegan Higdon, Gracie Smith and Albani Dotson were able to boost the Lady Cougars to a 28-26 win to take a (2-1) lead.
Tellico would not go down without a fight however, and was able to claim the fourth set 25-22, to even the series (2-2) to take it to the final set.
The Lady Cougars battled in the fifth and final set, with Makenna Miles, Allie Ballew and Alley Foster making plays to keep Copper Basin in the game, but Tellico was able to win the game, beating Copper Basin 15-7 to win the match (3-2).
