The Copper Basin Lady Cougars watched a lead slip away as they fell to the 2A Lady Cats of Sweetwater 45-33, Monday, November 29.
The Lady Cougars strung together seven points in the first quarter, with Riley Hall leading the way with three points in a two-point basket and a free throw.
Zoe Green and Gracie Smith scored a two-point basket each to cap the first quarter scoring for Copper Basin.
Sweetwater tallied six points in the quarter as the Lady Cougars led 7-6.
The Lady Cougars were able to add eight points to their total in the second as Sydney Hickey rattled in two, two-point baskets and two free throws for six points.
Smith fought her way to the free throw stripe, converting two free throws.
Sweetwater was able to score 13 points in the second as they clung to a 19-15 lead over Copper Basin at halftime.
Copper Basin scored nine points in the third quarter as Green dead eyed a long-range three ball, and Lexi Jory, Taylee Hall and Hickey scored a two-point basket each.
The Lady Cats netted 13 points in the third to lead Copper Basin 32-24 to start the fourth quarter.
Hickey was Copper Basin’s leading scorer in the fourth, tallying four points on two, two-point baskets.
Smith knocked in a deep three-point bucket, while Riley Hall muscled in a two-point bucket.
Sweetwater once again scored 13 points in the fourth as they were able to hold their lead and escape with a 45-33 win over Copper Basin.
