Holt’s 29 points not enough in GAC loss

The Fannin County Lady Rebels traveled to Atlanta Tuesday, January 7, for a region rumble with the Greater Atlanta Christian Lady Spartans.

Morgan Holt led the Lady Rebels with 29 points, but the Lady Spartans was able to win the game 66-49.

Abby Ledford led the Lady Rebels in the first with seven points, a three ball, two-point bucket and two free throws. Holt scored six points on two, two-point buckets and two free throws to cap a 13-point first quarter.

GAC was able to score 16 to take a 16-13 lead. Fannin netted seven points in the second quarter with Becca Ledford, Holt and Natalie Thomas scoring a two-point bucket each. Olivia Sisson fought her way to the free throw line where she converted one free throw. The Lady Spartans scored 12 points in the second to take a 28-20 lead over the Lady Rebels at halftime.

Holt caught fire in the third quarter, scoring nine points on a three ball and three, two-point buckets. Becca Ledford rattled in a two-point bucket as well to cap an 11-point third quarter. GAC put up 17 in the third as the Spartans increased their lead 45-31 to start the fourth.

Holt continued her hot hand in the fourth, scoring 12 points in three, three-point baskets, a two-point bucket and a free throw. Becca Ledford drained a three ball and Sisson churned out a two-point bucket for an 18-point fourth quarter for the Lady Rebels. GAC was able to score 21 points in the fourth as Fannin fell 66-49 to the Lady Spartans. The Lady Rebels are now 12-4 on the season and 3-3 in region play.
