The Copper Basin Cougars football team recently had two players named to the 1A All-State team. Junior quarterback Bryson Grabowski and senior wideout Chase Mickens received the honor, after helping the Cougars to a 6-5 season, going 3-1 in region play.
Grabowski is ranked as the as the number one 2021 quarterback in the state, throwing for 2,202 yards and 19 touchdowns in the 2019 season.
He also rushed for 404 yards and four touchdowns.
Mickens was on the receiving end of a lot of Grabowski’s passes, collecting 1,091 yards this season, averaging 19.1 yards per catch and 99.9 yards per game. Mickens finished his career in the top 200 wide recievers in the country.
He was also a force on defense, netting 129 tackles, three interceptions, eight pass break ups and one forced fumble.
Copper Basin head football coach Chad Grabowski was proud of Mickens and Grabowski, saying, “Chase and Bryson have worked extremely hard this season, and I am happy they are being recognized for their efforts. I’m very pleased to have these two on the All State team and hope this will lead to even more players being recognized in the future.”
