Five perfect entries recorded as no surprise games come in contest

Either the selections were not that hard this week or it’s becoming easier to separate the winners from the losers as the football season is still in its infancy.

Whichever the case, five entrants in The News Observer’s weekly football contest turned in perfect 16-0 worksheets.

Tim R. Messer, Tim Massaro, and Tyler Messer, all of Blue Ridge, Ronald Williams of Epworth, and Jessica Hughson all recorded the spotless records.

Using the tiebreaker, all five went over the combined 46 points scored by Wake Forest and Georgia. The next step was closest to the total to decide the winner.

That honor went to Tim R. Messer with his 50 points. He claims $120 for first place and the perfect entry.

Taking second by predicting 52 points in the tie breaker was Massaro. He’ll take home $15.

But the five weren’t the only contestants on top of their game with their weekend predictions.

Seven contestants only missed one game; Donna Stuart, Jeff Stuart and Blake Ross of Mineral Bluff; Brandon Crosby, Sal Maniscalco, and Laura Gale of Blue Ridge; and, Scott Walker of Wetumpka, Alabama.

There were also several contestants at 14-2 including Allen Werneck, Richard Rhyne, Angie Workman, Thomas Seabolt, John Stonner, Mary Barth, Chuck Zimmerman, Teresa Santos, Tony Santos, Ted Hill, Larissa Jones, Tina Rhodes, Jeff Davenport, David Walker, John and Tamera Webb, Robert Gale, Logan Williams, Johnny Kerwin, and Kenny McCracken.

Congratulations and good luck next week. The guy who picks the weekly games has been told to try to find a few more challenges.
